The Story
Adapted from 17th Century Paris to modern-day London, Alceste (Damian Lewis) is a famous British playwright, disillusioned and angry with the hypocrisy and shallowness of the world of show business . Vowing to discard society, Alceste’s plans are derailed when he falls madly in love with Jennifer (Keira Knightley), an ambitious twenty year-old Hollywood film star; she may prove to be his biggest challenge yet. She claims to reciprocate his feelings, and then continues to flirt outrageously with influential media contacts in order to further her career.
