Monty Python's Spamalot takes the art of parody to new heights
The Spamalot London musical is new to the West End. It
premiered on 17th October 2006 and is currently running
at London's Palace Theatre - with further extensions very
likely in light of its immense success.
The Spamalot musical is Eric Idle's adaptation of the 1975 film 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail'. Idle collaborated on the fabulous musical score with composer John du Prez, including three of the songs from the original film.
The story of Spamalot
Spamalot retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, featuring a number of gratuitously scantily clad showgirls, not to mention the cows, killer rabbits, and French people!
Spamalot originally opened on Broadway, where it has been running since March 2005, winning three Tony awards along the way. The lead role of King Arthur, originally played by Tim Curry, is now played by Simon Russell Beale, whilst Hannah Waddingham plays the Lady of the Lake as a feisty jazz diva.
