New production for the Sound of Music
The Sound of Music musical is one of the best-loved of all theatre shows. It comes to London again, with a brand new production that will run at the London Palladium.
The star of the new production is Connie Fisher, voted to play the part of Maria by the British public on top-rated BBC TV programme 'How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?' Playing alongside Connie in the Sound of Music, London, are some of the most popular and established stage performers; Alexander Hanson (Sunset Boulevard, We Will Rock You) will play Captain Von Trapp and Britain's most popular soprano, Lesley Garrett, takes on the role of Mother Abbess. This timeless family classic is directed by Jeremy Sams who's joined by renowned choreographer Arlene Phillips and designer Robert Jones to bring this vibrant new production to the stage.
The story of the Sound of Music
Based on the true story of the Von Trapp family, the original musical was the last collaboration between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, becoming one of the most successful Oscar-winning film musicals of all time. Its rich seam of songs includes: My Favourite Things, Do-Re-Mi, Edelweiss, Climb Every Mountain, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, The Lonely Goatherd as well as the glorious title song, The Sound of Music.
