Phantom of the Opera

Phantom of the Opera, London is still THE show to see!

The Phantom of the Opera theatre production has become a musical phenomenon since its first performance at Her Majesty's Theatre in London in October 1986. Written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and originally starring Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman, the Phantom of the Opera, London went on to become a Broadway show and is now the longest running Broadway musical of all time.

The story of Phantom of the Opera
Now in its 21st year in the British capital, the Phantom of the Opera musical is based on the classic French thriller by Gaston Leroux. It is set in the opulence of the Paris Opera House in the 1870s where Christine Daaé, a chorus girl promoted to singer in the opera, captivates the dark and sinister figure of the Phantom of the Opera. He is a troubled and hidden character who falls deeply in love with Christine but who terrifies her by his mysterious and frightening approaches.

In one critical encounter, Christine unmasks the Phantom discovering a new sympathy for him, and his conscience is awakened. Their relationship is doomed, but for the Phantom, his feelings last a lifetime.

The lavish sets, costumes, and special effects that are created for the Phantom of the Opera theatre production are some of the most complicated and stunning ever attempted, with the production winning more than fifty theatre awards.
