Abba fans can't get enough of the Mamma Mia musical!
Since its opening in London in 1999, Mamma Mia has been seen worldwide in different productions by at least thirty million people. Mamma Mia tickets sell out regularly as the show is a must-see for Abba fans everywhere.
Abba music forms the core of the Mamma Mia musical with the stage pulsating to twenty-seven of Abba's best known songs including Dancing Queen, Knowing Me Knowing You, Super Trouper, and of course Mamma Mia. The hits help tell the funny but heart warming story of a girl and her mother looking for love and truth.
The story of Mamma Mia
Donna lives on a Greek island and runs a small tavern; her daughter Sophie goes there to get married but also to discover the identity of her father, something her mother has never disclosed. After finding notes in a diary, Sophie invites the three men who might be her father to the wedding at the Greek island they visited twenty years ago, causing emotional mayhem for Mum.
The story unfolds with humour and gleeful tongue-in-cheek performances from the cast, who goad the audience to guess which Abba smash hit will be coming next. In the end, Sophie and her mother work it all out and a wedding takes place - but who exactly does she marry in the end?
Enormously successful during its first five years at the Prince Edward Theatre in London, the Mamma Mia musical moved to the Prince of Wales Theatre in 2004 and still plays to packed audiences.
