Lord of the Rings musical hits London this summer
The Lord of the Rings theatre adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's book trilogy takes to the stage at the legendary Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, from May 2007. Thrilling music, enthralling choreography, remarkable staging, and stunning design combine to transform Drury Lane into Tolkien's Middle-earth, in a mesmerising and sensational theatrical encounter featuring an ensemble of over seventy actors, singers, and musicians.
Cast of Lord of the Rings
An all-star cast for this Lord of the Rings theatre production includes Malcolm Storry, who plays one of the main characters in the plot: Gandalf the wizard. Storry is best known for his many seasons at the RSC, and who recently starred in 'The Royal Hunt of the Sun' at the National Theatre. Accompanying him, James Loye recreates the role of Frodo Baggins, which he played to great acclaim in Toronto last year. Laura Michelle Kelly, who won an Olivier Award for originating the title role in 'Mary Poppins' in London plays Galadriel, with Michael Therriault taking on the role of Gollum - which he originally acted in Toronto where he won the Dora Award for 'Best Actor'.
In this Lord of the Rings musical, the experienced cast also includes award-winning Peter Howe recreating the role of Sam, for which he received a Dora Award nomination; along with Jerome Pradon, who starred in many West End musicals including 'Les Miserables' and 'Martin Guerre,' playing the noble part of Aragorn.
