The Billy Elliot musical: an all-singing, all-dancing stage spectacular

The Billy Elliot theatre show is based on the brilliant Billy Elliot movie of 2000, which was nominated for a total of three Oscars and thirteen Bafta awards. The extraordinary film written by Lee Hall, directed by Stephen Daldry, and choreographed by Peter Darling has now been developed for the stage by the same multi-award winning creative team. Joining them is Elton John, one of the most celebrated UK singer-songwriters of the last thirty years, who produced all the music for the show.

The story of Billy Elliot
The Billy Elliot story is set in the north of England during the miners' strike in the mid 1980s. Billy Elliot's single father is a miner and the two start to clash over strike breaking and picket lines. Further discord between the two is inevitable when chance takes Billy into a girl's ballet class. He is spellbound by the dancing and becomes determined to make it as a professional dancer. His father is unsympathetic at first, wanting him to take up boxing instead, but Billy is encouraged by a dance teacher to audition for the Royal Ballet School in London. Against all the odds, Billy Elliot achieves his dream and changes his father's hard-line opinion in the process.

Please note: Due to the bad language and violence integral to this production, the producers recommend that children under the age of 12 should not be permitted to attend; however, children above the age of seven will be admitted at parents' request.
