Name: Jaswinder Singh
Position: Front office manager, Radisson Edwardian Heathrow Hotel
Has worked here for: Four years
What are the best, and challenging parts of your job? Best part is meeting people on a daily basis, the new experiences and challenges. The staff are very pleasant to work with, and it is their energy that drives the operations. In hospitality you face new challenges daily. The industry is unpredictable which is why it becomes a challenge, but at the same time your colleagues are your backbone and strength and make sure everything is taken care off on time.
What impact do you expect from the 2012 Olympics?
The Olympics is going to be a big challenge but very beneficial. Radisson Edwardian are the official bidders of the 2012 Olympics, and my front office team are very passionate about the 2012 Games. They are looking forward to hosting a world event, and equally passionate about meeting guests and their needs.
What do you do outside work?
I love to meditate because it gives me piece of mind, and helps me stay stress free which keeps me calm.

Name: Graham Kennedy Smith (nickname Smithy)
Position: Concierge
Has worked here for: 17 years
Interests: Football, Rugby, Films & Comedy
All about Smithy: Smithy enjoys being helpful and meeting different types of people. He is our very own cockney concierge, for whom nothing is too much trouble. His lovely jubbly catchphrase and enthusiastic mannerisms make smithy a character to remember. With an array of jokes (most of which we can’t repeat) Smithy is always chirpy and won’t hesitate to help.

What has kept you in the job so long? It’s like a family working here and even regular guests remember you, but at the same time you get to meet new people everyday which is why I have always enjoyed being part of the front office team.
If you could swap jobs with someone at the airport, who and why? I would stay in customer service because I feel confident, and swap with someone at an airline like BMI.

Name: Sidharth Shehrawat
Position: Guest service manager
Has worked here for: Three years
What does your job involve? Making sure customers needs are met according to their requirements so they feel the hotel is a home away from home, and keeping the staff motivated so guests get a better stay.
What’s the busiest time of the year? As an airport based hotel we are always busy even with 300 rooms to be filled you now get delayed or cancelled flights and it gets full in minutes. However, March and April we have a lot of conferences, and the summer is busy.
How do you spend your days off? Go to cinema, play cricket with friends and I am very good at cooking which my wife is very happy about. My signature dish is butter chicken.
