Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds is a world famous waxwork museum on Marylebone Road in London. The company was founded by Marie Grosholz in 1835 after she married and changed her name to her husband's: Tussauds. There are now branches of Madame Tussauds in New York, Las Vegas, Amsterdam, Hong Kong and Shanghai, but the original London waxwork museum is undoubtedly the most famous, and an immensely popular London visitor attraction.

If you've ever wanted to meet a celebrity, then Madame Tussauds could make your dream come true. The wax figures in this special museum are remarkably lifelike. Each one takes a team of twenty dedicated sculptors four months to create. Over 500 body measurements are used, real head hairs are inserted, and layers of paints and tints are built up to create realistic skin tones

At Madame Tussauds you'll find special zones dedicated to royalty, sports people, and world leaders, along with changing exhibitions that reflect the latest film premieres and celebrities. Popular areas include Chamber Live, the legendary Chamber of Horrors, and World Stage, home to Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Robbie Williams, Britney Spears, and dozens of other legendary music industry names.

New interactive exhibits at Madame Tussauds include Blush, the A-list party - where you can mingle with the stars, and the Spirit of London Ride, a time-travelling taxi cab that takes you through 400 years of London history. In the Sport Zone you can umpire a tennis match with Boris Becker, putt a hole with Tiger Woods, or take a virtual penalty with Wayne Rooney. Recent arrivals at Madame Tussauds include a fourth Kylie Minogue, Kate Moss, and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

Madame Tussauds is open every day except Christmas Day. If you book online in advance and arrive after 5pm you can save 50% off standard ticket prices. Alternatively avoid the queues with an online Fast Track ticket and save 10% into the bargain. The nearest tube station is Baker Street.
