Twickenham Stadium
Twickenham is home to the UK's largest rugby union stadium. Having seen some of the greatest rugby matches in sporting history you'll get a sense of its rich past as soon as you enter the venue. With a capacity of 82,000 Twickenham is the perfect venue for major international sporting events, as well as music concerts. The stadium has played host to the likes of U2, The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart.
As well as going to the stadium for sports and music events you can visit Twickenham for a tour. On the tour you will be taken behind the scenes of the most exciting parts of the stadium. Of course, you'll be shown to the player's changing room where you can sit at the bench and imagine the pre-match atmosphere. Along the tour you'll also see the royal box, where many a rugby match has seen the Princes William and Harry cheering the team on. As the tour goes on you'll be guided through the stadium's hospitality suites, the medical room, the players' tunnel, the president's suite and a spectacular view of the arena from the highest point in the stands.
The price of the tour also includes entry to the World Rugby Museum where you'll find what is considered to be the world's finest collection of rugby memorabilia. Open since 1996, the museum showcases the history of rugby, taking visitors on a journey right up to the present day. Being a relatively young museum, much of the exhibits are interactive, allowing you to experience the game as much as learn about it. There are many reconstructions of the game including video, audio and even smells.
Twickenham stadium is open from Tuesday to Saturday for tours at fixed times. Remember to contact the museum before visiting to arrange your tour.
